May: This month's Take & Make
Have you seen our “cherry blossom tree” in the entry way? It’s so beautiful, you almost wouldn’t know it was made from tissue paper. This month we’re offering branches and vases for you to make you own blossom-filled tree. All you need to supply are the scissors and some hot glue. (We have some to borrow if you need them.) You can choose from blue or pink tissue, as well as the style of vase to hold your branch. We hope this brings a little floral fun to your home, and feel free to send along some pictures of your finished creations. This craft is for all ages.

We still have a few seeds left from last month's Take & Make. When you stop in, take a look at the packets in the basket and then bring three to the desk. We'll give you the seeds to take home, which you can plant indoors now or save to plant outside when the weather warms. Plastic containers are also available if you want to make a tiny indoor greenhouse.

Celebrating a new graphic novel
Saturday, May 21st, Drop in from 10-12:00
In celebration of the May 10th release date for the fabulous graphic novel, The First Cat in Space Ate Pizza, we’re hosting a Space-themed Open House at the Fairlee Library with Solar System Ambassador volunteer for NASA, Cynthia Shelton.   Learn about food in space while you enjoy a slice of pizza, watch rocket launches, and design your own galaxy with pizza-topping planets.  This event is open to all ages.  Free NASA stickers and cards available.   And sign up for the raffle of a copy of The First Cat in Space Ate Pizza.  Hope you can join us!

                                Growing Beans at the Library

We are excited to announce that the Library is taking part in Plant a Seed 2022. We were given six
different types of beans and we hope to plant them all here in our gardening space. I’m looking forward
to harvesting them at the end of the summer and distributing them in the community. I recently ordered
a new cookbook to give us some ideas of the recipes we can make. Look for that on the shelves soon.

We've put together a list of things that might be fun to have here at the library. Take a look at our wishlist and see if there's something you might consider buying as a donation. Thank you, as always, or thinking of us.

If you are doing your shopping on Amazon, consider selecting the  Friends of the Fairlee Public Library to receive a small percentage of the total purchase amount on eligible items.

Give the Gift of a Book
 W
e're working with the Norwich  Bookstore to get some new titles added to our collection. Buying something from them helps us and it supports a local business. We've put together a wishlist of titles and would be so pleased if you'd consider buying one of these books for our shelves. Some are new titles and some will be replacing some books that have been very well-loved.

If you see something you're interested in you can stop on by the store, send an email, or order from their brand new website. Just let them know that you're ordering it for The Fairlee Public Library. Feel free to share the link with family and friends. And thank you in advance for your very kind donation.
